Note de dégustation
* - Guide Hachette 2013
90/100 - Wine Enthusiast
While is certainly a structured wine, it also has generous, full and ripe fruit flavors of black plum and berry, plus firm tannins and acidity. Saint Ahon, in the southern part of the Haut-Médoc, is showing great promise with this wine. (millésime 2010)
88/100 - Robert Parker
Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London. The Saint Ahon 2011 has a pleasing bouquet with ample ripe blackberry, fresh strawberry and cedar aromas that waft temptingly from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with plush tannins: layers of strawberry and red cherry laced with graphite and dried orange peel. The finsih is long and satisfying. Very fine. (millésime 2011)

Premier souvenir
A ray of sunshine entering the winery and passing through the wine that is then flowed.

Histoire du château
Château Saint Ahon was owned by Charles de Montesquieu in the 18th century. It is now listed as a “Remarkable Monument”. Château Saint Ahon was destroyed during the French Revolution. It was reconstructed in the course of Napoleon's Empire and restored in 1875 by the architect Alphonse Blaquière who gave it its current Louis XIII's style. Château Saint Ahon is one of the last wineries in Blanquefort. In 1985, the Count and Countess Bernard de Colbert, a direct descendant from the famous Louis XIV's Treasury minister, became the 67th owners of Château Saint Ahon and its vineyard. The winery covers 40 hectares of land, including 30 hectares of vines. In 2003, Françoise and Nicolas Chodron de Courcel, ther daughter and son-in-law, left Paris with their children to settle in Saint Ahon. Their intention was to set new prospects for the winery, in the difficult context of the wine industry crisis. A new future cannot be imagined without the wine itself! We are convinced that “only a high-quality vine can produce a high-quality wine” and thus adapted the winery according to the latest know-hows: parcelling the vineyard, drainage, cultivating with a minimum impact on its natural environment, eco-friendly farm work, as well as thermoregulation, choosing adapted barrels, etc. Of course, the future of Château Saint Ahon also depends on wine tourism! Since 2009, a rustic gîte and a reception room host weddings, seminars, holidaymakers and musical events. In Summer 2011, Château took a big step towards wine tourism with the opening of “La Petite Boutique de Saint Ahon”, a wine and delicatessen gourmet shop, and “Les Jardins de Mirabel”, a pleasant route within the winery. These add to the wine-tourism activities already existing. At the end of 2013, the Château counts two new rustic gîtes and a parking space for 4 mobile homes. We invite you to discover all our activities - our Petite Boutique Shop: wine, gourmet foods and accessories - our visits (vineyards, winery and barrel cellar) tasting (2 wines), - our family and funny tour: Les Jardins de Mirabel - our accomodations - our parking area camper - our reception room.

Accord mets/vin que je suggère pour mon cru
Lamb chops with balsamic reduction carrot puree with cumin. Duck Tournedos with its Basque spices and vegetable tian. Or just with friends over tapas.
