YVES RAYMOND
Owner

My first wine memory
I remember the piquette of my neighbour the mason-winegrower. He had just one vat. Once the wine out of the vat he would put water and sugar on the remaining skins of the grapes. Thus he would produce a light wine : the "piquette" that he would bring along with him at work. Nowadays you can no more be mason and winemaker it is forbiden to produce the "piquette" everybody is more professionnal, but life has lost something.

The history of the Château
The soils of Saransot have always been considered as the best clay and stone grounds of Listrac. This is why they were bought in 1735 by the Hosten family, the most famous winegrowers of Listrac in the XVIIIth century, in order to grow vines. In 1844 one of the heirs Hosten sold his part: the soils of Saransot and the Hosten buildings to the Dupré family. The Dupré renovated the buildings in 1868 and created the “chateau Saransot-Dupré”. The wine was classified cru Bourgeois Supérieur in the classification of 1932 and also in the missed classification of 2003. This confirms that the wine of Saransot was always considered among the bests of its area
