Note de dégustation
94/100 - Wine Enthusiast
2014 : This estate, dating to the 18th century and close to the Gironde estuary, has produced a rich wine. Young tannins and fine fruity acidity are both present in a wine that is serious and dense. Its weight, ripeness and the potential of the black-currant fruit will all allow it to age.
17/20 - Decanter
2012 : Lightly oaky, plummy nose. This is rounded and fleshy in style, with a good weight of fruit on the palate though modest acidity. Concentration, good grip and length

Un mot pour définir mon vin
Classy

Histoire du château
Château Le Boscq’s reputation dates back to the conquest for the Medoc vineyard, when in 1749, Thomas Barton took over the tenancy at Château Le Boscq. For more than 30 years he dedicated his life to making wine of a quality repeatedly recognised, sometimes even at Cru Classé level, within the different classifications established in the 18th century by the courtiers and négociants in Bordeaux. Jean Grazilhon had the chateau built in 1891, a majestic residence enjoying views overlooking the Gironde estuary. For more than 30 years, he strived to produce high quality wines, paving the way for Château Le Boscq to be awarded Cru Bourgeois status in 1932. During this period, the estate’s wines were transported in barrels by barge as far as the port of Bordeaux. It is with reference to this historical fact, and to the location of the chateau by the estuary, that a barge now features on the labels as the emblem of the estate. Since 1995 Dourthe have been passionately dedicated to renovating this little gem of a property in Saint-Estephe and restoring it to its former glory. Located on a magnificent terroir, right next to the Gironde estuary and overlooked by a majestic residence, with its rich and ancient history, the Château Le Boscq vineyards today produce highly distinctive wines, which elegantly combine the powerful character of Saint-Estephe with extraordinary finesse.
