Robert Dillon, an Irish refugee bought it in 1754. The property, then named Terrefort, was confiscated during the French Revolution\u2026 Fran\u00e7ois Seignouret, a rich furniture entrepreneur from Bordeaux, bought the estate in 1829 and developed it into a genuine wine farm. He had the idea to sell the wine in the Unined-States under the name Ch\u00e2teau Dillon\u2026Viscountess Arlot de Saint-Saud, the last private owner, sold the property to the Ministry of Agriculture in 1956.
